Jennifer and Hans Albee of Brooks will talk about the opportunities and challenges of solar energy in Waldo County on Saturday April 3, at noon, via Zoom. The event is sponsored by the Waldo County Democrats and is free and open to the public.
Brooks residents Jennifer and Hans Albee will speak about how the solar industry is growing in Maine and in Waldo County. They will discuss how the solar industry developed locally and the promise that renewable energy can bring to the rural Maine economy with an emphasis on workforce opportunities and challenges.
Jennifer and Hans live with their son, Turner, in Brooks.
Jen is a seventh-generation Mainer with a love of the environment from her first job harvesting vegetables at an organic farm in Jefferson and selling them at a small farm market in Round Pond. She is a graduate of Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts.
Hans is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Maine and New Hampshire. Growing up on the farm at the Chewonki Foundation, in Wiscasset, gave Hans a love of the natural world and a special appreciation for the part of Maine where the land meets the sea. He is a graduate of Dartmouth College, where he earned a B.A. and B.E., specializing in mechanical engineering. He also serves as chief of the Brooks Fire Department.
