ROCKLAND — Jeannette B. Turner, “Grammie,” loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and aunt, 95, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, October 28, 2019 at the Knox Center in Rockland.

Jeannette was born in Rockport to John and Ernestine Buzzell on December 16, 1923. She graduated from Rockport High School. In 1942 she married Kenneth Turner, who was soon after drafted into the Army to serve in WWII. Their daughter, Linda, was born during his time of service.

The couple moved to Burlington, Maine, after the birth of their second daughter, Sharon. A son, John, completed their family.

A dedicated mother and homemaker, Jeannette loved to cook hearty meals and sweet desserts for her family.

She was also known to pick up a rifle or a fishing rod a time or two and put fresh game on the table. Her children and grandchildren alike have enjoyed wearing Grammie’s hand knit socks, mittens, and sweaters on cold winter days. 

After receiving Jesus as her Lord and Savior, Jeannette became an active member of the Burlington Bible Church, serving for many years as Sunday School teacher and church treasurer, amongst other responsibilities.

Jeannette is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ernestine; her husband, Kenneth, and his son Louis; her siblings, Howard and Marguerite; and her son-in-law, Larry Esancy.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Turner Esancy, Sharon Ouellette and her husband Frank; her son John and his wife Mary; 8 grandchildren, Hilary, Kimberly, Michelle, Franklin, Nathan, Marisha, Kendra, Johnna; 27 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

An hour of visitation will be held at 3 p.m., prior to a celebration of her life Friday, November 1, at 4 p.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home.

She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband of 57 years at the Turner Farm Cemetery, Bryant Ridge Road, Burlington, Maine, Monday, November 4, at 2 p.m.
