Jason William Martin Moody, obituary

Jason William Martin Moody, 40, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. He was born August 30, 1978 at Penbobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, Maine, the son of Brenda S. Kurr. Jason was a hometown resident of Rockland, Maine, who recently moved to the Bangor area. Jason was raised by Brenda and her husband, Frank D. Kurr, of Rockland. He proudly returned to school to achieve his Maine High School Equivalency Diploma on June 12, 2013. 

Jason worked throughout his life as a house painter, following in the footsteps of his grandfather. He had such a love of music that he taught himself how to play the guitar. Throughout the years, Jason perfected his talent as a well-known bassist in the Heavy Metal community.

He played with several bands throughout his music career, including Strict 9, Demyze, A Constant Battle and most recently Seize the Vatican.

He also loved Blue Grass music and his favorite musician was Hank Williams III. Jason loved the outdoors and spent much of his time fishing and teaching others to fish. He was well known for his kind heart, generosity and sense of humor.  He was always offering a helping hand and was there for his friends and family. 

Jason will be greatly missed by his mother, Brenda Kurr, and husband, Frank Kurr, of Rockland; sister, Desiree Lampada, of Racine, Wisconsin; nephews Dominic and Vincent Lampada and their father, Matthew Lampada; stepsiblings Jeremy Kurr and wife, Shawna Kurr, of Nobelboro; children Skyler and Sydney Kurr; Jennifer Kurr, of Warren, children Tucker and Griffin Holgerson; half-siblings Rebecca Tibbets, Matthew Monson and Kiai Monson; Uncle Bradley Moody and wife Martha Moody; Uncle Maurice and Aunt Laverne Jackson; Aunt Janet Moody and cousins Chris, Lance and Eric Moody; many aunts, uncles and cousins through the Kurr family; Cousin Ashley Munrow; and many friends and fans of his music. 

Jason was predeceased by his grandparents, Warren and Thursa Moody; Uncle Dennis Moody and cousin Todd Monson.

A service will be held in remembrance on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Rockport Opera House, 6 Central Street, Rockport, Mainer. A private graveside service will be held at a later date with his family.
