Intergenerational Book Club at Thomaston Public Library

THOMASTON — On Tuesday, April 16, at 2:30 p.m., the Thomaston Intergenerational Book Club will meet to discuss Longbourn, by Jo Baker.

On the third Tuesday of every month, the Intergenerational Book Club, a group of men and women of all ages, comes together at the library to share their opinions and ideas about the selected book.

From the publisher:

“In this imagined belowstairs answer to Pride and Prejudice, the servants take center stage. Sarah, the orphaned housemaid, spends her days scrubbing the laundry, polishing the floors, and emptying the chamber pots for the Bennet household.

“But there is just as much romance, heartbreak, and intrigue downstairs at Longbourn as there is upstairs. When a mysterious new footman arrives, the orderly realm of the servants’ hall threatens to be completely, perhaps irrevocably, upended.”

If you live in Thomaston and would like to attend but need a ride, call the library at 354-2453 a week before the discussion date.

In May, the group will discuss Still Life with Bread Crumbs, by Anna Quindlen. Copies will be available to borrow at the library.
