Independence Day (week!) celebrations, from Searsport to Camden, Lincolnville and Thomaston

    Fourth of July celebrations are right around the corner and with the weather forecast looking great, one may want to check out local Independence Day activities. 

    From parades and 5K races to concerts and feasts, there is no shortage of ways to celebrate the Fourth in the Midcoast. 

    Below is the rundown of local events which we are aware. We will add events as they come in to post.

    Belfast

    Happy Birthday America!, Cold Comfort Theater

    Noon: Cold Comfort Theater will be presenting a spirited performance of song and dance to celebrate America’s birthday and honor our service women and men at noon. Songs from the 1800s all the way to the current era will be presented LIVE at Belfast’s ‘Park on Main’, located on Main Street between Rollie’s and the bay. Drive up, walk down, bring your seat and sing along with such familiar tunes as ‘Boogie, Woogie, Bugle Boy’, ‘America the Beautiful’, ‘This Land is Your Land’, and ‘Stars Spangled Banner’. 

     

    Camden

    The 25th Music by the Sea concert series presented by the Camden Rotary Club. 

    Band Schedule
    Noon — Midcoast Brass Quintet at Village Green
    2 p.m — Bay Chamber Concerts' Jazz Ensembles at Camden Harbor Park
    3:30 p.m. — Bath Municipal Band at Amphitheater
    5 p.m. — Katahdin Valley Boys at Camden Harbor Park
    7:30 p.m. — The Right Track at Camden Harbor Park

    9 p.m. — Fireworks over Camden Harbor

     

    Islesboro

    11 a.m. — Parade 

    2 p.m. to 4 p.m. — BBQ at the firehouse

    6 p.m. until gone — Burgers, Hot Dogs, plus karaoke at the Islesboro Sporting Club

    July 5th at Dusk — Fireworks at Grindle Point (Parking ban from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.)

     

    Lincolnville

    Norton Pond Boat Parade: The Annual 4th of July Parade will start at the west end of Norton Pond at 4 p.m.  So get those boats decorated and see you there!

    7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. — Midnight Riders performance at Lincolnville Beach

    9:15 p.m. — Fireworks over Lincolnville Beach

    9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. — Bonfire at Lincolnville Beach

     

    Thomaston

    7 a.m. — Pancake Breakfast at Masonic Temple

    7 a.m. to 8 a.m. — 5K Firecracker at Beechwood and Main Streets

    8 a.m. — Kids 1 mile Fun Run at Beechwood Street

    9:15 a.m. — Pet Show at Lura Libby School

    11 a.m. — Parade along Main Street from Erin Street to Booker Street

    Noon — Opening Ceremony; booths open, chicken BBQ feast, bounce houses, face painting behind business block

    12:30 p.m. — Live performance behind the business block

    1 p.m. — Cod Adams Memorial Horseshoe Tournament at Lura Libby School fields

    5 p.m. — Live performance behind the business block

    9:15 p.m. — Fireworks behind the business block

     

    Searsport

    The 4th of July festivities are put on by many different groups and vendors throughout the town. 

    9 a.m.  — Searsport United Methodist Church - Auction, donuts, coffee, craft tables. - Rain or Shine!

    Around parade time, the Searsport United Methodist Church will also be opening their food wagon and running children's games on the green around the church.

    11 a.m. — Parade

    After the parade / around noon time — Chicken BBQ hosted by the Lions Club on Elm St

    Around 4:30 p.m. until after the fireworks, Water, Mosman, & Elm will be closed to outside traffic. Handicap parking will be available at Mosman for those that have the appropriate tag.

    Approximately 9 p.m., fireworks. Look for the Fire Department to purchase your glow necklaces and cotton candy! They will also be selling raffle tickets for firewood.

    *Fireworks traffic - please be advised - Prospect, Mortland, Steamboat, & Norris, parking only on exit out. Throughout town, RIGHT TURNS ONLY will be permitted following the fireworks.

    **Parking the municipal parking areas such as the town office and behind the laundromat is highly recommended!
