CAMDEN — The Camden-Rockport Middle School’s Fundraising Committee invites the community to their fundraising event with local artist and children’s book author, Chris Van Dusen.
Join the Committee for an afternoon of family fun with live music, food for purchase, an If I Built a S’mores bar, and a reading of Van Dusen’s latest book, If I Built a School, by the bonfire.
The event will take place Saturday, November 16, from 2 – 4 p.m., at the Camden Snow Bowl.
“The timing of this book couldn’t have been better for our new middle school project,” said the Committee, in a news release. “Come hear the fanciful ideas captured in the book and learn about our new middle school.”
The afternoon will include an exclusive art auction and sales of prints and T-shirts from artwork in Van Dusen’s book, some of which will be specially modified for this event. Van Dusen has provided a one-of-a kind,
ready to hang, 20” x 36” canvas print of a special image from his If I Built a School book to be auctioned off at the event.
“We feel extremely honored to have his generous support for our fundraising initiatives,” said the Committee.
For those unable to attend the event, it is still possible to bid on the print with this link. Absentee bidding will close November 15, at 3 p.m.
Attendees to the event will also be able to purchase and name a seat in the Bisbee Theater at the new Camden Rockport Middle School.
Funds raised will be used for the new middle school’s athletic fields, theater lighting, playground equipment, furniture, and an art sculpture.
The Committee is nearly halfway to its goal of $500,000, according to the release.
