Monies raised go toward efforts to revitalize and promote the historic Waldoboro Village

Icy Elf 5K to be held Dec. 22 in Waldoboro

Sun, 12/01/2019 - 8:00am

WALDOBORO — Santa Claus is coming to town and the elves will be working hard all day to get Waldoboro ready for his arrival.

It's bound to be cold, so a 5K is being organized to get everyone's blood moving and warm before Santa shows up, a press release noted.

The third annual Icy Elf 5K is being organized for Sunday, Dec. 22 from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Hot chocolate, candy canes, Christmas lights and prizes (even one for the best dressed elf) will be on hand.

Local businesses will be open late with hot drinks, snacks and items to tick off those Christmas presents yet to be bought.

There will be a multitude of prizes available including, but not limited to, Christmas-themed age group prizes and an elf at the finish line to congratulate runners.

Registration is $20 if completed by Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. or $25 on race day. Registration can be completed online by clicking here

Advanced registration can also be completed at Long Winter Soap Co. in the Village.

Runners will get a performance beanie from BOCO Gear, estimated retail value of $26, with their entry (while supplies last).

Walkers are welcome to participate.

A kid's run is free and may not be held if the weather is poor, the release noted.

The 5K, on the other hand, is not dependent on the weather, according to the release.

Monies raised go toward efforts to revitalize and promote the historic Waldoboro Village.

The release noted those skipping the race will end up on the naughty list. (The Penobscot Bay Pilot could not independently verify this with the North Pole by publishing time.)
