ROCKLAND — Pope Memorial Humane Society will host a K9 Carnival, featuring the Dog Lovers Days Lure Course, September 28, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., at Harbor Park, in Rockland.
“Our K9 Carnival celebrates the bond between people and their pets,” said Kasey Bielecki, community outreach and events coordinator for Pope Memorial, in a news release. “We want our community to be a part of the Carnival where both the dogs and their humans play the games and win great prizes. We are especially excited for the dog lure course. The first of its kind in Maine and bound to be a great time for everyone.”
The cost will be $10 per dog to run the lure course. Every participant will leave with a professional photo of their dog(s) running the course. The course is fully fenced in with plenty of viewing areas for the community.
“It doesn’t matter if your dog is a Chihuahua or a Great Dane or a mix of anything in between – if they love to chase things or play fetch, they will LOVE Lure Coursing,” said Pope Memorial. “Even if you think they won’t – many people are very surprised when their dogs go wild for the lure.”
Expect a dunk tank, carnival games, dog kissing booth, puppy playpen, dog ball pit, face painting, grilled cheese bar, silent auction, bake sale and more.
All money raised will go directly to Pope Memorial Humane Society and the care of local homeless animals.
