Hope opens season with pair of wins over Appleton

APPLETON — The middle school boys and girls basketball teams from Hope Elementary School and Appleton Village School opened the Busline League regular season Monday. Dec. 6 in Appleton. 

By the end of the day, the visiting Eagles walked away with a pair of victories, one a dominant one and one a nail-biter. 

Boys: Hope 83, Appleton 57

Hope held quarterly advantages of 21-10, 40-25 and 71-36. 

Scoring for Appleton were Noah Benson (four), Carter Campbell (four), Gavin Campbell (13), Manny Mosheyer (16), Aiden Barley (two) and Jacob Harrington (18). 

Scoring for Hope were Quinn Ryan (two points), Kristian Hall (four), Carter Grant (eight), Micah Fagande (26), Nolan Ames (36), Wilder Haskins (three) and Theo Chandler (four). 

Girls: Hope 57, Appleton 54 

Hope held a quarterly advantages of 12-9 after the first quarter, trailed 27-24 at the half and was ahead 55-36 after the third. 

Scoring for Appleton were Brenna Odone (26 points), Zoe Davis (14), Izzy DeBrosky (10) and Lydia Ostrander (two). 

Scoring for Hope were Thea Laukka (19 points), Leah Jones (36) and Anika (two).
