Holiday photo ops with Beltie calves at Aldermere Farm, Dec. 2

Event has passed

On Saturday, December 2, Maine Coast Heritage Trust’s Aldermere Farm will open its barn doors to the public for Beltie Holiday, a holiday tradition started at the farm 13 years ago in conjunction with Camden’s Christmas by the Sea.

The celebration will take place from 9 a.m. to noon inside Aldermere’s main barn, located at 20 Russell Ave in Rockport. Parking will be along Russell Ave.

Attendees are encouraged to don their most festive (or ugliest) holiday sweaters and take cameras to have their photos taken with a Belted Galloway calf.

Local author Paige Pendleton will be on site signing copies of her illustrated children’s book, The White Belt Society, based on true events at Aldermere Farm.

Children and adults can enjoy hot cocoa while decorating their own Beltie ornaments to take home. Baked goods from Aldermere Achievers 4-H Club, Aldermere Farm beef and Beltie-themed stocking stuffers will be for sale. Admission is free. There is a suggested donation of a nonperishable food item for the Camden Area Christian Food Pantry. For more information, call 207-236-2739 or visit
