Event has passed

UNION — Union Historical Society’s program on Wednesday, June 8, at 7 p.m., will precede the June 14 vote on the future of the Thompson Communty Center.

A PowerPoint presentation by Jeff Nims will tell the story of Augustin Thompson, the inventor of Moxie, and the gift of the brick portion by heir Francis Thompson in 1951 as a memorial to his parents. The Thompson Memorial Building served as a school and town office until 1989 when the school was vacated and the nonprofit Thompson Community Center Association was formed.

Voters will be presented five different options on the 14th, including renovation, senior housing, sale or demolition.

The monthly meeting is held in the Old Town House, 128 Town House Road, in Union.
