in Canada, unions do not bargain for healthcare

Healthcare movie ‘Off the Table’ screens in Belfast

Event has passed

BELFAST — A free screening of Off the Table will be hosted by the Waldo County Chapter of Maine AllCare, Thursday, Oct. 10, at 6:30 p.m., at the Belfast Free Library.

The film shows how, in Canada, unions do not have to bargain for healthcare.

Healthcare is Off the Table. When Canadian workers go on strike, or are locked out, they don’t lose their health coverage. Hear U.S. and Canadian rank and file workers, leading officials from the USW and UE and doctors from Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) explain how Canadian-style Medicare is able to cover everyone in the U.S. without copays, deductibles or premiums.

Maine AllCare is a non-partisan grassroots organization advocating for a publicly-funded universal health care system for all Maine people.

Refreshments will be served.

Free and open to all.
