Guided walk of Sears Island to explore avian fauna of woods and waters

SEARS ISLAND — On Thursday, July 28, at 8:30 a.m. - 10 a.m., Wesley Hutchins, the 2022 Pendleton intern at Coastal Mountains Land Trust majoring in wildlife ecology at the University of Maine, will lead a walk exploring the avian fauna of the woods and waters of Sears Island.

Meet at the green gate at the end of the causeway near the island. Please wear shoes for hiking on the portions of the route which are not paved. Feel free to bring binoculars if you have them.

Directions: From Route 3, turn onto Sears Island Road and drive until you reach the green gate at the end of the causeway.


Coastal Mountains Land Trust has worked since 1986 to permanently conserve land to benefit the natural and human communities of the western Penobscot Bay. The Land Trust has protected over 13,000 acres, offering 50 miles of trails for public recreation.
