Grove Cemetery tour with Belfast Cemetery Trustees

BELFAST — The Belfast Cemetery Trustees announces a special Grove Cemetery tour. The cemetery is located at 21 Belmont Avenue and this tour will take place on Saturday, September 25, starting at 1 p.m.

Please meet at the cemetery Chapel. A donation of $10 is suggested, in support of the Chapel fund.

This tour will feature student participants in the Belfast Game Loft program, Coming of Age in America. The program is an in-depth look at historical Maine life uses role-play and experiential learning in small groups to explore concepts in U.S. history, Maine history, and civic involvement.

Both students and adults will portray some of the more historically interesting citizens buried in Grove Cemetery. Come and meet Dr. John S. Osborn, Belfast’s first doctor; Joseph Wilson, Civil War soldier; and Anne Crosby Johnson, Belfast benefactress.

Parking is available in the cemetery and refreshments will be served following the tour.

Rain date is Saturday, October 2.
