Group hears of legislative issues pertaining to Retired Teachers, plans scholarship raffle

    BELFAST — Members of the Waldo County Education Association - Retired held their first meeting of the 2019-2020 year at The Ocean’s Edge restaurant, Thursday, September 12.

    Legislative Representative Jan Dodge, former president of the group, was honored and thanked for leadership by President Constance McCarthy.

    John Kosinski, MEA Government relations director, spoke to the group about legislative issues as well as issues specifically pertaining to retired educators.

    Two raffle baskets, both worth at least $500, were displayed and raffle sales began with the members. Ticket salespersons will be visiting area businesses to display the baskets and sell tickets. Proceeds benefit generous scholarships for area high school graduates who are going on to college.

    October’s meeting will be held at the Waldo County Technology Center, in Waldo, on Wednesday, October 9.
