LINCOLNVILLE — The weather looks OK for morning hike up to Millerrite Cliffs, Tuesday, Oct. 22, at 6:30 a.m., according to organizers, in a news release.
The annual hike has occurred in Lincolnville every year on October 22 for past 25 years or so, maybe longer, according to the organizers, to commemorate the Great Disappointment of Oct. 22, 1844.
Look it up online or Google "William Miller and the Great Disappointment!"
The hike takes about an hour or less to go up and about 35 minutes or so to come down.
“All are welcome,…... overactive or hyper adults and dogs on leash please for safety of others!” said organizers.
It’s a fun thing to do to meet new friends and see some of the old ones that keep coming back year after year. And great stories too.
So grab your hiking shoes and jacket, camera, and join other hikers at the end of Maiden’s Cliff Road (all the way up. Don’t park at the last farm house; keep coming) just up from Youngtown Inn top of hill.
