BELFAST — Good Morning, Belfast! began its first month of broadcasting with interviews of local community leaders and celebrities: Michael Hurley, Belfast councilor and Citizen of the Year; Christopher Bond, manager of Unity College's McKay Farm and Research Station; and Tom Moore, Belfast Poet Laureate.

Future guests will include Katherine Pickering, Belfast Harbor Master; George Sysco, owner of the Old Professor's Bookshop; Alan Crichton, CEO of Waterfall Arts; Doug Coffin, spokesperson for the Belfast Curling Club; and Gary Rainford, a published poet.

The goal of Good Morning, Belfast! is to "Celebrate the Good Life in Belfast and Waldo County." The program covers the arts, business and community affairs, and features interviews with guests and performances by local musicians and entertainers.

Good Morning, Belfast! is broadcast on Tuesday and Thursday from 8 to 9 a.m. The program is carried on these community media: Belfast Community TV (BCTV) Cable Channel 2; Rockland Community Television's Maine Coast TV on 1301; Belfast Community Radio (BCR) WBFY 100.9 F.M.

The program's creators are George Frangoulis and Ned Lightner. Frangoulis is the show's producer and host, while his spouse, Kristin Frangoulis, is host of the show's "Arts By the Bay." Lightner is in charge of technical production and direction of Good Morning, Belfast!

Good Morning, Belfast! is produced in the second floor salon above The Old Professor's Bookshop at 99 Main St. in downtown Belfast. However, for variety, some future shows will be produced at various locations outside the studio.
