Gallery Tour at the Farnsworth: Andrew Wyeth in Rockland

Event has passed

On Wednesday, April 25, the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland will have a tour of its recently opened exhibition Andrew Wyeth in Rockland. The tour, led by the Wyeth Study Center staff, will take place at 2 p.m. and is free with museum admission.

Andrew Wyeth made occasional painting sojourns to Rockland between 1939 and 1989 and while Rockland is not a major theme of Wyeth’s work these paintings document Rockland’s architecture and industrial past.  Many of the sites he painted are now recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.  Many of these paintings are exhibited for the first time. The exhibition includes an audio guide featuring a series of oral histories that compliment the exhibition labels. This audio guide is accessible via the visitor’s cell phone. The exhibition Andrew Wyeth in Rockland will be on display through February 17, 2019.

To join the tour, go to the museum’s main lobby off of Museum Street. For more information visit
