UNION — The rain and windstorm on April 30 - May 1, 2023 caused significant damage to the Union Fair. The most damage took place on the front stretch of the Arthur Kennedy Racetrack, side entry stairs to the Union Fair Grandstand, the boardwalk behind the grandstand, and the deck connected the the Maine Wine and Craft Beer Pavilion.

Insurance will not cover the damage. It’s estimated that over $20,000 will be needed to make the repairs to the clay racetrack, the side stairs to the grandstand, boardwalk, and pavilion deck.

With less that 70 days before our first Harness Racing post time on July 23 there is an urgent need to make these repairs.

We’re asking for anyone that’s interested to make a tax deductible donation to the Racetrack Rescue Fund started by The Friends of the Union Fair Society. Commonly called just “The Friends’ they’re a 501(c)(3) organization that was created to help raise money for the good of the Union Fair.

The Friends are in the process of creating an online method to accept donations to the Racetrack Rescue Fund. Until then checks can me mailed to:
