BALANCE EXERCISES, FULL BODY STRETCH, RELAXATION

Free Saturday ‘Everyday Stretch’ series offered in Rockland

ROCKLAND — Adults and young adults are invited to join a free five week stretch class series at the Rockland Public Library, "Everyday Stretch," which will held Mondays, from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m., starting September 9; and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m., starting September 7.

The series will be led by dancer/choreographer Patti Luchetti and is part of the Library's “Check out Movement and Healthy Living at Your Library” Series, funded by the Maine Public Library Fund, Rose and Samuel Rudman Family Trust, City of Rockland, and Friends of Rockland Public Library.

Balance is the foundation of safe movement. With it, one gains the confidence to sustain movement and allow the muscle groups to both contract and stretch. Stamina is the ultimate goal; with it one can steadily increase capacity to strengthen the heart, circulation and muscle tone.

Classes will begin with balance exercises, include a full body stretch, and end with relaxation. Participants will use a carpeted space and make full use of chairs; students should wear loose comfortable clothing or gym wear.

All levels of experience are welcome. Those who are new to a movement program or who are seeking to regain past abilities are especially encouraged to attend.

Registration is not necessary, but participants are encouraged to attend all classes in either day of the series. Participants of this program will be asked to sign a waiver of liability.

Patti Luchetti has studied Modern and ethnic dance forms for 25+ years and is currently a student of yoga and enjoys the practice of Tai Chi. She is director of Shalimar’s Studio of Oriental Dance in Rockland.

The Library is located at 80 Union St. FMI: 594-0310.
