Free beginner’s ukulele lesson with Ando Anderson

Event has passed

BELFAST — The Belfast Free Library will host a free beginner’s ukulele lesson with Ando Anderson on Friday, Sept. 9, from 4-5:30 p.m., in the Abbott Room.

Please bring a ukulele if you have one. Anderson will have copies of his new book, Playing the Uke with Ando, available to purchase at the program.

Local musician and music teacher Ando Anderson learned to play the ukulele as a child in the backseat of the family car on a seven hour drive. Since then Anderson has played guitar, upright bass, and uke in assorted bands and groups, mostly in Mississippi and Maine. Currently he teaches music to preschoolers and offers private lessons to all ages.

Lately, Anderson’s ukulele classes and ukulele groups are keeping him very busy. As a music teacher he’s thrilled to see the ukulele’s growing popularity stating, in a BFL news release: “Lots of beginning players, young and old, are experiencing the joys and challenges of playing this happy fun instrument. I’ve written this book [“Playing the Uke with Ando”] to encourage anyone and everyone to try out the ukulele!”

This program is free and open to all.

Please call the library 207-338-3884 ext. 10 if you need more information.
