CAMDEN — Camden Opera House’s Blue Café opens autumn with The Flow State: composer Marianna Filippi and cellist Ben Noyes, Friday, Sept. 27, at 7:30 p.m.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for the free evening up in the intimate third-floor performance space.
Filippi received her degree in music composition from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff, Wales. Her musical language is inspired by the music of Maurice Ravel, as well as Japanese film composers Nobuo Uematsu and Joe Hisaishi.
Last year, Filippi premiered Ephemeros at the Back Cove Contemporary Music Festival in Portland; and Jeweled Wings at the highSCORE Contemporary Music Festival in Pavia, Italy.
“And the Midcoast musician, who plays accordion and piano, packed the Blue Café in 2018, so the downtown opera house is pleased to bring her back by popular request,” said Blue Café, in a news release.
Noyes, a Portland native, is another multimedia artist whose creative collaborations and performances have led him throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
Admission to the Blue Café is always free, with donations to the Community Arts Fund accepted.
40 Paper Italian Bistro and Bar will provide a cash bar.
