THOMASTON — Every year in the United States, Flag Day is celebrated on June 14. This year the American Legion, Williams-Brazier Post 37, along with Thomaston Boy Scout Troop 215, will celebrate Flag Day by holding a Flag Retirement Ceremony outside the Post 37 Legion Hall, at 37 Watts Lane, in Thomaston.
Every effort will be made to meet the current requirements of Stage 2 gatherings in Maine. Seating will be arranged to accommodate 42 spectators, on a first come – first serve basis. Seven additional, front row, seats will be provided to anyone that may donate a flag for retirement.
These donations need to be made by 6 p.m., Friday, June 12. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for further donation information.
All 49 spectators will be required to wear a mask while they are seated in the viewing area. Legion and Scout ceremony participants will not be required to wear a mask but will observe social distancing guidelines to the best of their ability.
In addition to the public viewing, Post 37 will attempt to run a live viewing party for the ceremony. This will be the first time for Post 37 to attempt something like this and could become a way to reach more patrons and spectators at future events and activities.
The viewing party can be found on the Williams-Brazier Face Book page. Copy and paste the below address onto your computers address line at the top of the screen.
