AUGUSTA — On Wednesday evening in South Portland, and Thursday at noon in Augusta, Mainers in recovery, advocates and lawmakers will come together to premiere Leading with Love, a new short documentary series that lifts up the stories of Mainers impacted by the opioid crisis, underscoring the need for a compassionate, public health-driven response to the crisis.
A trailer for the series can be viewed here.
The series tells the stories of three Maine women from different parts of the state – Denise Altavater from Pleasant Point Reservation, Lewiston resident Chantel St. Laurent, and Emily Makris of South Portland – who are living on the front lines of this crisis and how their experiences have shaped their lives and the lives of their families.
After the screening, speakers will share their thoughts on participating in this project and offer their perspective on what action should be taken by leaders in Augusta to confront this public health crisis.
