NORTHPORT — A Bar Harbor woman was transported to Waldo County General Hospital for examination following an afternoon crash on Route 1 Jan. 16, according to Chief Jason Trundy, of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.

Louisa Plummer, of Bar Harbor, was traveling in a 2003 Subaru Forester when her vehicle left the roadway, knocking down roughly half of a chain-link fence belonging to Rocky Point Statuary before coming to rest in the woods.

Waldo County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene after a passerby reported the incident around 3:45 p.m., and while it appears the vehicle was traveling toward Belfast at the time of the wreck, additional details were not available Wednesday afternoon.

A chainsaw was brought to the scene to cut down a tree stump that was blocking the driver’s door.

Once freed from the vehicle, Plummer was able to walk to a waiting stretcher before being loaded into a Belfast ambulance.

Northport Fire and Rescue slowed traffic while rescuers cleared the area, though both lanes of travel remained open.

The vehicle was towed from the scene.
