ROCKLAND — The soccer, golf, field hockey and cross country teams at Oceanside High School in Rockland will participate in interscholastic competition this fall, the Regional School Unit 13 school board voted Tuesday night.

While games will be played, there will be no fans except for special and limited occasions.

The Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference, of which Oceanside is a member, issued a recommendation Monday, according to Bishop, to its member schools to prohibit fan attendance from road opponents and only allow fans of the home team to attend.

Oceanside, however, plans on having none of its fans in attendance, save for a limited amount of people for events such as Senior Night.

Golf meets would be played at the Samoset, Rockland Golf Course, Northport Golf Club.

Meets for cross country would be held at Medomak Valley High School in Waldoboro, Troy Howard Middle School in Belfast and Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport.

Staggered starts would be implemented for cross country races, Bishop noted, and there will be no large scale races as in the past.

Football will be played in modified fashion of 7-on-7 flag football during the fall season, with traditional 11-man football tentatively slated to be held in the spring. Medomak Valley, Lincoln Academy and Belfast are among the teams that might appear on the schedule. Fall cheering will work on practicing this fall.

Oceanside has also opted to suspend the middle school fall sports season for athletes at Oceanside Middle School as there are no local teams to play. Rather, they will work to play intramural games.
