ROCKLAND — Spider Saloff returns to Rockland, on Friday, July 19, to perform in a benefit concert for Friends of the Rockland Public Library.
A New York star — now Chicago based, Saloff has been heard around the world, from her headlining The Memory of All That, a George Gershwin tribute in St. Petersburg, Russia, to the Poznan Poland Jazz Festival, the Pheasantry in London, and opening the Jazz Festival Week in Lincoln Center in New York.
Just returning from a tour of Australia, she now brings back to the Midcoast her entertaining wit, storytelling and voice for one magical night.
This year, the concert will be held at the Rockland Elks Club, 210 Rankin Street, Rockland, at 7 p.m.
Last year’s event with Spider was a near sell-out, so the new venue at the Elks Club will provide additional seating and enhanced viewing, according to a news release.
Local musicians Dick White on guitar, and Spike Hyssong on bass will again accompany Spider in the performance.
Cocktails will be available.
Tickets are $20 in advance, and can be purchased at the Circulation Desk at Rockland Public Library, or $25 at the door.
