SEARSPORT — Join Searsport District High School Theater for their local production of Paper or Plastic: The Ice Storm, by Werner Trieschmann, this Friday, March 3, along with Belfast Area High School and Mt. View’s 2023 shows for the Maine Drama Festival. Shows begin at 6:30 p.m., doors open at 6 p.m.; tickets are $5 at the door at 24 Mortland Road.

“Searsport’s show is unusual in that it is a sequel to last year’s show, so fans might recognize some familiar characters,” said director Christi Goosman, in a news release. “Even if this is the first time seeing Trieschmann’s comedy, theatergoers will recognize many of the quirky characters from their own local supermarkets.”

Directed by Christi Goosman, with technical assistance by Susan Capwell and Ian Cottrell, The Ice Storm stars many returning actors to reprise their original characters, including senior Grace Scharlacken as Sarah, the new assistant manager, Sophomore Bay Nadeau as Carl, the assistant manager, Senior Abigail Brown as the sassy Regina, senior Chris Hayes as Little Sam, Connor Courtney as the In-Store Announcer, and Lily Nadeau as Kenny the Cart Hunter.

Melodie Lane as Stressed Out Mom, Jace Nash as Bread Shopper, Aiden Boyd and Jacob Mellor as additional Shoppers, and Bella Campbell and Bethany West as Little Sam’s sidekicks Connie and Felicia add to the laughs.
