On Saturday, June 13, at 4 p.m., the Belfast Area Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) will host an on-line forum, a Webinar, dedicated to climate crisis issues. Featured on the forum will be the three candidates running in the Democratic Primary for the Waldo County State Senate seat: Glenn “Chip” Curry of Belfast; Dr. Charles Pattavina of Winterport; and Robyn Stanicki of Belfast.
They are seeking their party’s nomination for the seat held by Sen. Erin Herbig, who declined to seek re-election after she was hired as city manager of Belfast. The moderator will be Dr. Peter Millard, who is on the board of the Natural Resources Council of Maine, and chair of the climate committee of Physicians for Social Responsibility.
The Climate Forum will begin with introductory statements by each candidate, after which they will answer a series of climate-related questions submitted in advance by both organizers and attendees.
The Belfast Area Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby has been active for several years with projects aimed at increasing citizen awareness of climate crisis issues and their solutions, and seeking accountability from elected representatives. On a national level, CCL lobbies in Washington DC for passage of the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend bill (HR 763), which would place a fee on carbon, and return the funds to every American household, accordingto CCL, in a news release.
