CAMDEN — The Maine Daylily Society will host its annual Daylily Day at Merryspring Nature Center on Saturday, July 17, at 9 a.m.
“Daylilies are blooming in colorful profusion at Merryspring!” said Merryspring, in a news release.
Gardener and daylily hybridizer Susan Shaw will share how easy it is to create daylily varieties from seed on this walk through the Maine Daylily Society Display Garden, where some plants are now registered cultivars with the American Hemerocallis Society. Not just orange or yellow anymore, daylilies come in many forms and colors, including spiders, ruffled bagels, picotees, and doubles.
“Ranging in size from miniature lilies to plants nearing seven feet tall, there are plenty of varied and exciting cultivars on display,” said the release.
Divisions of blooming cultivars may be available to order.
The Maine Daylily Society is committed to sharing a love for these carefree garden plants.
