BELFAST — Despite temperatures in the teens, a sizeable crowd gathered by the waterfront to welcome Santa, who arrives at the event via boat, to Holiday on the Harbor.

The event started around 11 a.m. Dec. 8, with Santa mingling with the crowd after making his way to land. After spending several minutes visiting with wide-eyed children, Santa made his way to his waiting sleigh, which was pulled by two black horses. A lucky few children and their families got to ride along with Santa on the sleigh as it was pulled from near Heritage Park the Boathouse, where many more eager children were waiting.

Some of the activities in the Boathouse included cookie decorating, ornament creating, coloring, and of course, visits with Santa. There were also cookies, candy, and hot cocoa to keep bellies filled and hands warm.

Holiday on the Harbor is sponsored by the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce and Belfast Parks & Rec, with activities provided by Cornerspring Montessori School.
