Craig Harris, music maker and historian, educator, storyteller, and radio host, will present America’s Musical Roots, for the Cushing Public Library, on Wednesday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m., via Zoom.
The program is free and open to the public. To register, call Wendy Roberts at 207-691-0833 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
This program traces America’s roots music from old-time ballads and fiddle tunes of the Appalachian Mountains and the bluegrass of Bill Monroe to the genre-bending sounds of new grass and Americana.
Harris has taught and written about music for more than four decades, and will share his enthusiasm and knowledge in this Zoom presentation as part of the Cushing Public Library’s program series.
Most recently, he is the author of Bluegrass, Newgrass, Old-time and Americana Music, following other publications on the nation’s musical heritage. He has been the co-host of a weekly radio program on Bluegrass Country as a member of the Gaea Star Band since 2014. As a skilled percussionist, he has also played with a number of other bands.
