Communi-TEA acknowledges Martin Luther King Day with food drive
THOMASTON — "Celebrate Our Neighbors!" Now that the pressure and rush of the holiday season is over, get back to rejoicing in the community and reconnecting with the neighbors at Communi-TEA at Thomaston Public Library.
The Friday, Jan. 18, event starts at 3 p.m., and runs until 4:30 with sweet and savory treats and hot tea.
Nonperishable food donations gratefully accepted, as are personal care and pet care items.
According to the USDA, Maine is ranked number 1 in food insecurity in New England and 16 percent of our friends and neighbors are experiencing hunger on a regular basis, according Communi-TEA, in a news release.
“Food pantries and food donations are necessary and a great way to show that we care about those around us,” said the release. “Let's honor the Martin Luther King, Jr. Food Drive!”
