Coffee & Climate to kickoff 2018 gatherings Feb. 21
BELFAST – Coffee & Climate will kickoff its 2018 schedule at the Belfast Co-op on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 4:30 p.m. In 2017, Maine Conservation Voters started Coffee & Climate in Belfast to create community conversation about pressing conservation issues and to facilitate opportunities for action.
These bi-weekly gatherings are facilitated by staff of Maine Conservation Voters and their Climate Action Maine organizing team, but discussions and events that result from the meet-up are fueled by the community members who attend. As a result, Belfast high school students have traveled to Washington D.C. with the organization to talk to Maine's congressional delegation about proposed cuts to the Environmental Protection Agency's budget and are currently planning a local climate-related movie screening and panel discussion.
This year's kick-off event will bring in new faces – and with that, new discussions about state and federal issues that will inspire environmental action.
