ROCKLAND — The Coastal Children's Museum in Rockland, in conjunction with the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will be hosting a Bike Rodeo, Saturday, May 22, from 10 a.m. to noon, at the Coastal Children's Museum.
Designed to teach and encourage kids from age 2-10 to ride bikes safely, the Bicycle Coalition Bike Rodeo will include a helmet check, a bike mechanical check, and the chance to ride in a closed traffic skills course that teaches the rules of the road. Helmets, masks, and an accompanying adult are required.
The course is safe for all ages and ends with a turtle race. Balance bikes and a space to practice will be available for children who are not yet comfortable riding without training wheels.
More fun can be found at a bike decorating /art station and a story reader will provide relaxing down time.
Upon completion of the course, riders will receive their very own “Ticket to Ride” license.
Walmart has donated two 20” bikes to be raffled. Baked goods and water will be available by donation.
Additional sponsors of this event are Maine Sport Outfitters, Sidecountry Sports, City of Rockland, and Aurora Masonic Lodge 50.

The Coastal Children's Museum has been shuttered for over 14 months. Thanks to the dedication of its board, volunteers and donations from the community, it is still viable. As a token of gratitude for the community’s support, the Museum will host monthly outside or remote activities until it can reopen safely and donations will be accepted.
