Yes, Virginia, even in these trying times, there will be a Christmas in the Country Tree Lighting ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m., on the Union Common.
As it has since 1952 the Union Area Chamber of Commerce members and other supporters will light 33 Christmas Trees. The public is invited to this tradition and asked to park their vehicles around the three common areas and watch the 6:30 lighting from the comfort of their vehicles and with their own group, according to a news release.
After the lighting, a free cookie drive-through will take place, including Elf on the Shelf.
All CDC recommendations will be strictly followed.
“Everyone must wear a mask for this fun event, and we encourage individuals to stay with the group they came with,” said the release.
