CAMDEN — A book reading and signing of Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee by Chris Van Dusen will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at 9:30 a.m., at the Sea Bags’ Camden store.

Sea Bags, a Maine-based designer and manufacturer of handmade items from recycled sails, has recently partnered with children's book author and illustrator Chris Van Dusen and The Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine to launch the limited edition Down to the Sea Tote. A portion of proceeds from this collaboration will go back to the Museum & Theatre from now until the end of the year.

Van Dusen is often referred to by children as “Mr. Magee” – a reference to the beloved main character from his children’s book, Down to the Sea with Mr. Magee.

Bringing a storybook to life through this playful, recycled sail cloth bag will bring Van Dusen’s story into the community in a new way while contributing to the Museum & Theatre’s work nurturing healthy children and families, according to Sea Bags, in a news release.

The Sea Bags Camden store will also host a special reception on Friday, October 25, from 4 - 7 p.m., and is open to the public. Ten percent of all Camden store sales at the October 25 reception will be added to the donation total.
