SEARSPORT — Carver Memorial Library is now offering home delivery. The program is open to residents of Searsport who are unable to visit the library in person because of lack of mobility, lack of access to a vehicle, or because of a short-term health condition such as late or post-term pregnancy or recovery from surgery, injury, or illness.

There is no charge for the service.

Those with a vision impairment are also eligible for the Talking Books Program through the Maine State Library (they can be reached at 1-800-762-7106).

Borrowers will need to have a library card in good standing and fill out an application form. The application can be picked up by a family member or a friend; the borrower can call and ask for one to be mailed to them; or it can be downloaded and emailed to the library: visit

Home Delivery borrowers have access to all of the Library’s books, movies and audiobooks. They can ask for specific items, or volunteers can choose for them according to their application, which includes a section on the types of books they enjoy.

Materials will be checked out for one month, up to three at a time. Deliveries will be made by library volunteers on the first Tuesday of every month.

“Carver Library is excited about the opportunity to provide books for our homebound patrons!” said the Library, in a news release.

Contact the library at 207-548-2303 or email if you have questions.
