Camden Summer Sounds series returns to Snow Bowl for fourth year

CAMDEN — Camden Summer Sounds, a Sunday afternoon series of free outdoor concerts at the Camden Snow Bowl, 20 Barnestown Road, returns for the fourth summer in a row. Concerts are set for 4 p.m. Sundays in August, beginning Aug. 6 with the Maine-made Cuban music of Primo Cubano.

Primo Cubano plays “son,” the traditional Cuban dance music dating back to the turn of the 20th-century that is the primary contributor to the blend of Latin styles today known as salsa. Band founder Paul D’Alessio encountered this music on a trip to Cuba in 2004 with the Brunswick-Trinidad Sister City Association, a cooperative between Brunswick and the city of Trinidad, Cuba. Primo Cubano has been inspiring dancers since 2007 with its Maine-made Cuban music.

Everyone is invited to bring their own lawn seating and picnics for the hillside. Water will be available for a dollar a bottle, to benefit the opera house’s Community Arts Fund. In addition to CAF, Camden Summer Sounds is supported by the Camden Snow Bowl and the Town of Camden.

In the event of wet weather, the concerts will be held at the Camden Opera House. The rain location decision will be made at 5 p.m. the day before and posted on camdenoperahouse.com and in social media. Please note that all dogs must be on leash.

After the Primo Cubano kickoff, the series will continue Aug. 13 with The Right Track; Aug. 20, the Gawler Family Band; and Aug. 27, The Hot Suppers.

In the event of wet weather, the concerts will be held at the Camden Opera House. The rain location decision will be made at 5 p.m. the day before and posted on camdenoperahouse.com and in social media.

Please note that all dogs must be on leash.
