CAMDEN — The Camden Opera House presents Camden Summer Sounds, a free outdoor concert series, every Sunday this month at 4 p.m. at the Camden Snow Bowl, 20 Barnestown Road.

The Sunday, Aug. 21 concert brings Nashville to the Midcoast, thanks to Breakin’ Strings, a Maine bluegrass band that records in Music City. Led by multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter Cliff Gelina (his main instrument is mandolin), Breakin’ Strings also features band co-founder Corey Bonnevie on lead guitar, vocals and songwriting; Maine fiddle stalwart Ed Howe; banjo player Hunter Webber; and bass player Brian Durkin. Hot off Lewiston’s Great Balloon Festival, the hard-driving Breakin’ Strings will energize the hillside.

Martin Gibson will open the show.

Camden Summer Sounds is sponsored this year by First National Bank and First National Wealth Management, the Town of Camden, and the opera house’s Community Arts Fund.

No tickets are needed, just bring lawn seating and a picnic (water is available on site).

Rain location, if forecast warrants it, will be the downtown Camden Opera House; that decision will be made by 5 p.m. the day before and announced on social media and camdenoperahouse.com.

The series concludes Aug. 28 with a rare local show by folk master Gordon Bok, opened by Jud Caswell. Details are on the website.
