CAMDEN — A student versus staff basketball game Tuesday, Feb. 11 will be held as a culminating event for recent lessons the eighth grade students at Camden-Rockport Middle School have received on global clean water and sanitation issues.
From their exploration into what is going on and why, students choose a region in the world where they most want help and then create projects highlighting and advocating for charities who are developing solutions for these issues.
The projects are then part of a competition.
The staff versus student basketball game fundraiser is the culminating event of the eighth grade #WATER project.
The winning project’s charity will receive the funds raised from the staff versus student basketball game.
Three years ago, the winning project was able to donate $800 to water.org which funded 11 families in South Sudan to have clean water for one year.
The school invites members of the community to join in supporting the basketball game and fundraiser from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. inside the middle school gymnasium.
Those planning to attend are asked to bring cash.
