CAMDEN — Based on video surveillance evidence and statements made to the police, Camden Police Detective Curt Andrick charged two New York City residents with theft and burglary following a series of business break-ins earlier this week.

Andrick said Friday, Aug. 4, that he arrested Talicia Martins, 21, of Manhattan, N.Y., on Chestnut Street in Camden in the evening, Aug. 3, and then arrested Jacob Flanagan, also of Manhattan, in Camden on Aug. 4 after he came to the police station.

Flanagan has been charged with three counts of burglary, felony theft and criminal trespass.

Martins has been charged with burglary and felony theft.

Martins had been transported to Knox County Jail, and made her $1,500 bail last night.

Andrick said an anonymous tip had been made to the Camden Police Department, which led to questioning of the two suspects.

Andrick and Officer Brook Hartshorn began talking to business owners and piecing together the information after receiving several calls Monday, July 31, from employees of businesses discovering evidence of forced entry, as well as cash missing from drawers.

The businesses, the Smoothie Shack, Francine and Camden Cone, reported money stolen.

Andrick advises business owners to not keep large amounts of cash on the premises and to use night drop boxes at the banks once closed.

The burglaries are still under investigation, according to Andrick. The story will be updated as further details become available.
