On Tuesday, May 10, at 6:30 p.m. the Camden Public Library will host wellness coach Hester Kohl Brooks for an online Yoga Nidra class. The session is designed to introduce the practice of Yoga Nidra and help participants to relieve stress and tension. Brooks will also begin to offer in-person Yoga Nidra sessions weekly in the Camden Amphitheatre on Thursdays at 8 a.m. beginning May 26.
“Yoga Nidra is the ‘sleep’ of Yoga without any postures or effort,” said Brooks, in a news release.
Participants will simply need a comfortable place to sit, recline, or lie down. Brooks uses prompts and guided imagery to lead participants through “breath-sensing” and “body-sensing” in order to achieve a deep level of relaxation.
The online session on May 10 is free, and a Zoom registration link can be found on the “What’s Happening” adult events calendar at librarycamden.org. (For online publication, here is the registration link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Q-aD1YMqS0Wj2m-LbWPZqw) The in-person Yoga Nidra sessions are by donation (optional), with a portion of donations collected benefitting the Camden Public Library. Emailing Brooks at firstname.lastname@example.org is encouraged so that you can be notified if a class is to be canceled or moved.
