ROCKPORT — Camden Hills varsity girls soccer head coach Meredith Messer has been selected as the 2018-19 National Federation of State High School Athletic Associations’ (NFHS) girls soccer Coach of the Year for the state of Maine.

The news came in a Nov. 1 announcement from Camden Hills athletic director Jeff Hart.

“She was selected from a pool of many outstanding soccer coaches and I cannot tell you how excited I am for her,” said Hart in the announcement.

On top of being the Maine Coach of the Year in girls soccer, Messer will move forward into the pool of state awardees from the other seven states in Section 1 of the NFHS to be considered for Section 1 girls soccer Coach of the Year, and could receive consideration for the NFHS National Coach of the Year for girls soccer.

Section 1 states include Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Last season, Messer guided the Windjammers girls soccer team to its third consecutive state championship while posting a perfect 18-0 record.

This season, the Windjammers are 15-0 and have advanced to the regional semifinals in its quest for a fourth consecutive state title.
