BANGOR — The Camden Hills varsity boys soccer team hit the road Wednesday, Oct. 9 to challenge Bangor in a key Heal Points contest.

Courtesy of a goal in each half, the visiting Windjammers collected a 2-0 victory to boost its record to 8-3.

The scoring began when Levi Guay of Camden Hills found the back of the net at the 21:23 mark in the first half when he nailed a goal from 25 yards that scraped the crossbar before finding the back of the net.

Three minutes into the second half, the Windjammers scored once again when Quinn Brown tallied a goal.

Camden Hills had 17 shots, while Bangor had nine.

The visiting Windjammers had five corners, while the host Rams recorded one.

Casey Messer had three saves for the Windjammers as goalkeeper, while Austin Conway tallied five for Bangor.

"We came out and played very well against a good Bangor team today,” said Camden Hills head coach Ryan Hurley, who noted Bangor consistently plays well on its home field.

In fact, the Rams had only surrendered three goals in its last seven contests.

“We knew we really had to pressure them and finish our chances,” said Hurley. “We got goals when we needed them and played very well all over the field. I'm really proud of all our players and the performance they put forward today, we had a lot of fun.”

Next up for the Windjammers will be a Saturday, Oct. 12 contest against Lewiston (10-0) at 11 a.m. in Rockport.
