CAMDEN — Inspired by artist Yayoi Jusama, the Camden Public Library wishes to pay homage to the humble dot by inviting artists from the Midcoast community to make their mark and display their own dot-covered creations at the library from September 16 through September 23.

Jusama’s famous dot-covered art project, “Obliteration Room,” invited members of the public to decorate a giant white room, and everything in it, with colorful dot stickers. The result was a joyful, confetti-covered art installation for the Queensland Art Gallery, according to Camden Library, in a news release.

“Artists can submit any white item that they have covered in dots,” said librarian Amy Hand, in the release. “We will be displaying the art collectively in the library’s Rotunda as part of our week-long celebration of International Dot Day (officially 9/15), which is a global celebration of creativity and collaboration.”

Submissions must be received before September 16. Interested artists are required to register by phone to participate. Call Amy at 236-3440 for more information.
