    Camden Public Library has released its calendar of events for May 2021.

    Saturday, May 1 through Monday, May 31, All Day (Online). May Virtual Gallery: Visual Artists – Our Journey to a Personal ProjectDuring the month of May, the Camden Public Library will host an online show of photographic artwork by Sue Michlovitz and Dianne Kittle, who are presently completing Master of Fine Arts degrees at Maine Media College in Rockport. The images featured in the show highlight work that each artist has collected for publication in two fine press books. Visit the photography show on the library’s website beginning May 1 at librarycamden.org/event/michlovitz-kittle

    Monday, May 3, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Zoom Event: Visual Artists – Our Journey to a Personal Project. A month-long photographic art show on the Camden Public Library’s website will be complemented by a Zoom event with Sue Michlovitz and Dianne Kittle.     Tuesday, May 4, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PMGenealogy and Historical Storytelling: Overcoming Pitfalls and Getting It Right. Historian Mark Bradford Richardson will give an online presentation where he will use several real-life studies to illustrate genealogy research entanglements he’s encountered and suggest strategies to overcome them.     Wednesday, May 5, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Camden Brain Injury Support Group. This group welcomes survivors, family and friends of stroke survivors, and anyone faced with a neurological challenge. The group meets first Wednesdays at 10:00 am in the Children’s Garden near the underground entrance to the Camden Public Library. Please remember to bring face coverings while mask mandates are still in place in public spaces. For more information call 273-2090.

    Thursday, May 6, 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Let’s Talk About Energy, Part 3: Municipal Energy. The Camden Public Library and Camden Energy Committee continue their energy discussion series with a presentation about municipal energy use.     Friday, May 7, 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Explorations Read Aloud: The Sound of Waves. Local thespian Joseph Coté will read aloud selections from Yukio Mishima’s book. Set in a remote fishing village in Japan, it is a timeless story of first love. A young fisherman is entranced at the sight of the beautiful daughter of the wealthiest man in the village. They fall in love, but must then endure the calumny and gossip of the villagers. New readings become available to watch every Friday at 11:00 am in the “videos” section of the library’s YouTube Channel and Facebook Page.

Dolceamaro (Bittersweet): Changing Times in Rural Tuscany. Local food writer Nancy Harmon Jenkins will give an online presentation that will provide an insider’s look at how Tuscany of the past contrasts with Tuscany of today. With photographs taken over the years Jenkins will provide an intimate look at how her Tuscan community has been transformed and how her neighbors have morphed into residents of the 21st century.
