Brewer slips past Oceanside baseball at Husson

BANGOR — After weather postponed the game by a day, the Oceanside varsity baseball team hit the road to Husson University in Bangor on Thursday, April 25 to challenge undefeated Brewer. 

The visiting Mariners entered the game seeking its first victory of the season. Oceanside is still seeking its first win after Brewer was able to collect a 4-2 victory. 

Oceanside was scheduled to play Medomak Valley on the road today, April 26, for its next game, but that game was postponed to April 30. 

Instead, Oceanside’s next contest will come Monday, April 29 when the Mariners host Morse at 4 p.m.

In the Thursday contest, Oceanside plated a run in each the second and sixth innings. Brewer plated three runs in the opening frame and an additional run in the fourth. 

Working the mound for Oceanside was Jonah Carlson, who allowed four runs, three earned runs, five hits and three walks in six innings. Carlson fanned two batters. 

Pitching for Brewer was Trevor Pearson, who allowed two earned runs, six hits and three walks in seven innings. Pearson fanned five batters. 

Leading the offensive charge for Oceanside was Ben Ripley (two hits, two runs, two stolen bases), Alec Sirois (single, RBI) and Maguire LeBlanc (single, RBI).
