ROCKPORT — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine (BBBSMM) invites local businesses, organizations and individuals to sign up to Golf Fore Kids’ Sake 2019 at the Samoset Resort Golf Club. The tournament will tee off Friday, May 24, at 8 a.m., in Rockport.

Teams are comprised of four golfers and registration includes all course challenges and a barbecue. Funds raised will go directly toward youth mentoring programs in Knox, Lincoln, and Waldo counties.

Registration is limited to 26 teams.

Golf Fore Kids’ Sake is among Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mid-Maine’s largest fundraising events, helping to raise more than $30,000 for local programs, according to Special Events Manager Shawn Doll, in a news release.

Additional Golf Fore Kids’ Sake tournaments are held in Belgrade and Auburn.

According to Doll, every Big and Little match the agency creates and professionally supports costs about $1,400 annually.

“Funds raised at Golf Fore Kids’ Sake play a significant role in supporting matches and ensuring their long-term success,” he said, in the release. Doll said the local golf event will help change the lives of more than 50 children currently served in the Midcoast region.

Proceeds from Golf Fore Kids’ Sake events make it possible for the agency to provide mentoring services free of charge to children and families who need it most, according to BBBSMM Executive Director Gwendolyn Hudson.

“Whether you golf, donate an auction item, sponsor or volunteer, your gift gives a child the opportunity to reach his or her greatest possible future by connecting them with a Big Brother or Big Sister,” she said.

Businesses and individuals can register a team by contacting Shawn Doll at shawn@bbbsmidmaine.org.

Materials are also available on the BBBS of Mid-Maine website bbbsmidmaine.org.

Businesses can support Golf Fore Kids’ Sake by becoming sponsors, donating prizes, registering teams to participate or by donating an item to the silent auction.

Event volunteers are also welcome.
