BELFAST — “Belfast Through the 1980s” will be the presentation of the Belfast Historical Society’s meeting, Monday, Aug. 26, at 7 p.m., in the Abbott Room, at the Belfast Free Library.
Megan Pinette, Belfast historian, will give a talk using the slide collection of Harold Higgins to illustrate the changes which took place along the waterfront, commercial and residential areas.
Have you ever wondered about buildings which once were located on what are now public parks and walkways? What businesses were once located in downtown during this time?
Higgins was an amateur photographer and his collection of several hundred slides from the late 1970s and early 1980s in Belfast have proved to be a valuable resource to the Belfast Historical Society, according to the Society.
Belfast Historical Society meetings are open to the public and are held April through October.
